Monday June 5th 1916

Good day, rained hard in the night and early morning. Mora went to Elmer's between 6-7 a.m.  Maud went with her and came home. Mora sent me a new apron by Maud. Sidney staid with James so not to be so tired. Went from there to store got 20# meal and 1 red cross. Rode up with Arthur Getman, Henry Holden came, he has an auto now. Sidney and I planted some more potatoes and some sweet corn and squash.

Wednesday May 17th 1916

Rainy. Sidney rode with Arthur Getman to Geo. Mungers, brought home 1 bu potatoes, gone to Harry Hubbards this eve. Mr. Russel came to see our mailbox.

Friday April 21, 1916

Cool, cloudy most of day, very high wind tonight. Mora and Maud went to Little France early a.m., got 1/2 # flour and .10c cookies. Got Russel's wagon. Mora went to school at 11 a.m., rode with Arthur Getman in auto. Maud was all in so stayed home. Memphis and Cassy went in morning. Mrs. Emily House called this eve. to see Sidney about digging a ditch for her.

Thursday October 21, 1915

Quite a nice day, very little mist about noon. Mr. Wilson came 10 a.m. I got 10# graham, 1 red cross. Sold 1 1/4 doz. eggs for .34c/doz. The Russel girls stopped for our girls this morning to go to school. Arthur Getman came with an automobile.

Monday October 18, 1915

Fair a.m., rainy p.m. Sidney cut us some wood and F. House drew a load over, it is green and hard to burn. Children went to school. Sidney sent by Mr. House for .25c worth of bolted meal. Arthur Getman came with the mail.

Monday October 11, 1915

Hard white frost and a lovely day. Children all went school. Mora went to stay with Lettie tonight. Sidney went to Little France to trade, this morning got ride with Edd Cottett from his place over. Cut wood p.m. Arthur Getman was over the route today with Mr. Ferguson. He expects to commence carrying the mail next week. Our brown leghorn pullet layed her first egg today.

Tuesday January 12, 1915

Commenced to snow before daylight, snowed hard a.m turning to rain p.m. Sidney went to Weatherup's 8 a.m. worked till noon and came home awfully wet. Mitchel worked with him. Mrs. Dainis called p.m. let her have the old curiosity shop for Arthur to read, also a jar of rose balm for deafness. I gave her some snakehead for her sleeplessness. Mora and Maud at school as usual.

Sunday June 14, 1914

A very beautiful day, nice cool breeze. Mora and Maud have gone to Sunday school, seems funny not to have Sidney home. Arthur Dainis called to see Sidney. The children told him he wasn't at home so he went home again. Awfully cold, act as tho we would have a frost.

Friday March 13, 1914

Thawed quite a lot today hope the snow will soon be gone. Sidney went toward Hastings Center this a.m. James and Susie and their two babies came p.m. James had 2 rabbits for Gene Porter 75c pr. also Alva Shafer's bulldog to sell to Lewis Morey. Susie said Arthur and Mable Morey's baby Nellie May died about 2 weeks ago. Lillian is some better this p.m. but Cassie was taken very sick before noon and I have my hands full doctoring them all, hope they will be well soon, it is awful so much sickness. Nearly all the time one or more down.
