Thursday May 25th 1916

Warm bright day. Sidney and I planted potatoes a.m. and I and the children p.m.  Sidney worked for Frank Kent p.m., this eve. He and Maud have gone to prayer meeting at Claud Bryant's. Memphis and Cassy went to school but the teacher was gone away, so there was no school. Memphis cut her foot on a nail. I got 10# meal off of Wilson, also groceries off of Davy.  1/2c for sugar and 15c for compound. Maud took the turkey to Bell's and went and brought her home tonight.

Wednesday May 24th 1916

Fair. Sidney worked shingling at Fielding's for H. Munger. Got home at 4 p.m.  Maud and Memphis went to school, rode home with Claud Bisbo. Bell Allen spent p.m. here. James and Susie drove up this eve. brought sour milk and a picture and some butter in a pint can.

Tuesday March 28, 1916

Beautiful, but very bad going as the snow is still very deep and clumps to the ground. Sidney started to work but could not get in the woods on account of water. He got a pail of milk off Maud Potter. Claud Bryant got his horse down in the road.

Monday March 27, 1916

Warm. Sidney went over to Claud's but he had to get his own wood cut so Sidney came back home and got up some wood. Sidney did not feel well. Cassy sick, vomited.

Saturday March 25, 1916

Warm, thawing with a rush. Mora went to Fisher's. Nell gave her some wrappers for me to cut over. Sidney went to work but Claud had to work for Elmer Cottett, so he got 1/2 bu. corn, a pail of milk and came home. Cut us some wood and taped some more trees. Sap runs pretty good. I hulled some corn.

Thursday March 23, 1916

Stormy. Roads nearly full. Sidney and Claud cut wood a.m. Claud broke his ax so they quit at noon, came home. Sidney and Mora went to prayer meeting at Hubbard's. Small attendance.

Tuesday March 21, 1916

Thawing. Sidney and Claud commenced to cut wood for E. Potter. Mora went to school. A rag man came. I sold him a bag of rags but could not make change so he said he would leave the money at Fred House's. 14cents. Sidney got 9# flour off Maud Potter also a pail of milk. He let Claud have some milk and Lettie filled his dinner pail with hulled corn Maud went to see Bell. Commenced to wean baby Paul, he is very very good.

Monday March 20, 1916

Thawing some. Sidney and Alf. finished up Chas. Munger's wood job. Both eat dinner with Mungers. Maud Potter sent a pail of buttermilk and pail of sweet milk by Sidney. He borrowed some flour off Claud Bryant.

Friday March 17, 1916

Cold, frosty all day, p.m. blizzard. Sidney and Alf. worked for Munger. Sidney came out and eat his dinner at Claud Bryant's. He left it there this a.m. Maud Potter game him a pail each of sweet and sour milk. She filled Alf.'s pail also for him.

Thursday March 16, 1916

Fair, clear and cold. Sidney wanted to work but Alf. did not come about 9 a.m. Sidney went there and they were just getting breakfast. Alf. did not want to work so S. went to W. Monroe, got some corn and meal. Rode with Frank Cronan some both ways. Lost our bag. Sidney, Mora and Maud have gone to meeting tonight. Mora and Maud rode back with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hubbard. Claud Bryant converted.

Saturday October 23, 1915

Cold raw wind. I got up a 1 o'clock and drove Charles Runga's cattle out of our garden and they came right back and I drove them out again at 2. Mr. House put them in Fisher's lot and this morning they jumped over the fence and came back in our garden at noon again. {Unable to read, ripped} them as far as Johnson's, they have eaten {unable to read, ripped} cabbage, and some turnips too. Mora and Maud went over to Lettie's and also to Elmer Cottett's a.m. Blanche gave them each a pumpkin. Mr. House gave Lillian a *toque that was Hazel's. Bell came a.m. a little while. Sidney got home at 9 p.m. having walked from Brewerton. He brought some groceries from Claud Davy's.

Thursday October 7, 1915

Cloudy and windy. Memphis is 9 years old. All 3 at school. Cassie went down to corner but did not get any mail. She went down to Kent's again to get a can of milk for baby. She got two pencils and helped Bell bring up her groceries in our baby cab. Sold 1/2 doz. eggs for .30c/doz. Mora came home tonight as Claud expects to be at home nights the remainder of the week. Paul has one tooth just coming through, left under front.

Sunday October 3, 1915

Rained a.m., cleared about noon and we have had a beautiful p.m. Mamie Russel came p.m. wanted some meal but I did not have any. Bell came over this eve., brought some milk. We had a pretty good visit. Claud Bryant called to see if Mora was coming over to stay with Lottie this night.

Thursday September 30, 1915

A beautiful white frost last night and a lovely day. Bell brought over her oil can and a note for Maud to leave at Homer Bryant's on her way to school for Claud Davy. Memphis cry'd because I did not have time to fix her old shoes so she could go to school this morning. Bell told me she had a pair too small and wanted Memphis to come over and see if they would fit her. They were not much too large. I had to sew all the buttons on, so she went p.m. Maud Cronan and Helen also Lettie Bryant and her two babies spent a part of the afternoon here. Lettie brought Mora to school this a.m. and she rode home with her tonight. I mailed the letter to Mr. Higley, Syracuse Y.M.C.A. Gave Mora eight seeds of succotash for Lettie. {Unable to read} a tin full of nice string beans and Mrs. Fisher gave the girls a little kettle full also sent a little pail full by them to Bell on their way home from school.

Sunday September 19, 1915

Lovely day. Sidney, Mora and Maud went to S.S. and meeting. Mable, Marguerite and Marion came at eleven, and Mr. F. Cary came a little after. All here for dinner. Mamie came again p.m. Claud Bryant came eve. wanted Sidney to work for him.

Thursday September 2, 1915

Hot sultry day. Mora came 10:30, brought a little pail of apples. Went over after supper, but Claud had come home sick, so she came back home. Mable, Marguerite and Mossaline came at 10 a.m., brought some cucumbers, a few potatoes, a can of sourmilk, a few pickles and a little cup of butter. Also a molasses cake, but it was tougher than sole leather and burnt also. Mr. Wilson came, I got 1 sack graham, 1 red cross, (84c.) sold him 3 1/2 doz. egg's. 24c/doz.

Sunday August 29, 1915

A rainy day. None at church. Sidney went as far as the woods with Mora and met Letta coming after her with a rig. Claud's brother was there. Mr. Henderson died at Fernwood, found dead in barn.

Thursday August 26, 1915

Fair, cool breeze, very chilly tonight. Mora went out a.m., got $1.40 on her soap order, and p.m, got .40c more. Bell came with some sweet milk a.m. Post Standard man along p.m. Mrs. Wm Johnson gave Mora 2 nice cabbage. Wants her to stay nights with Lettie while Claud's thrashing.

Thursday August 19, 1915

Quite cold morning and also at night. Fire feels good. Sidney cut brush. Got 10# graham off Claud Davey. Cooked some of our succotash for supper. Sidney rec'd a letter from Ind., also his church letter from Rev. Love.

Saturday August 14, 1915

Lovely, not too hot today. Sidney cut brush. Cassie carried his dinner to him. Mora picked about 4 qts. berries, gave House half of them. Got a nice lot of mushrooms. We had more sweet corn. Sent Bell some, she brought over a pail of milk tonight. I salted about 4 qts. string beans. Baby girl at Claud Bryants.
