Friday May 21, 1915

I sent a card to Mina. Showery, an electric storm at 6 p.m., struck Frank Cronan's house, setting fire in two places. Maud and Memphis went to school. Cassie helped me, dropped 2 rows sweet corn. Sidney worked for F. House a.m. and Ross Bisbo p.m., eve. He and Mora went to Little France and got a lot of groceries. Mrs. Beasonson gave her 3 sticks of candy and Charlie gave her cookies. Took 1 doz. eggs 20c.

Thursday October 1, 1914

Another fine day. Rec'd a letter froom Mina, she is at Harry Hurds Hotel at work. Susie took a load of apples to Charlie Simmond's for cider. James and several others gone deer hunting.

Friday July 10, 1914

Another very hot muggy day. Mr. Wingen's called this morning and paid Mora and Maud for picking berries. Mina 10c. Charlie Vinney's wife stopped to get her baby a drink. The children have watched the P.O. close but no word from Sidney came, a card from M. Silverman and a letter from Rev. Chas. Bowman seven p.m came for Sidney. I found a little rabbit dead p.m. Had a light shower this eve cooled the air a trifle. Mailed a letter to Sidney.

Wednesday June 10, 1914

Man selling window screens. Fair. Sent a letter to Sidney, expected one from him but none came. Memphis went to the mill for corn. Charlie gave her back a nickel and told her to buy some candy with it. Maud went to Weatherups and got some buttermilk, Cassie mailed our letter to Sidney. Memphis also went to Fidler's on an errand for Aunt Kate. Lydia told her that Dorothy has the measles. Got the pantry nearly cleaned and washed windows also. Mora swept upstairs and helped me wash and put away dishes.

Friday May 1, 1914

Pleasant all day, white frost last night. Sidney worked to Rudeaus again today. Got a cord of wood off Henry. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school. Mora mailed a letter for me to Adell this morning, p.m. went home with Avis W. got a pail of buttermilk, heard Charlie Marshal was dead.

Tuesday March 3, 1914

Charlie Rudeau plowed out the road with his oxen, several men ahead shoveling the first time this winter. Mora went up after the mail and also went to Gehr's and got a can of milk. Sidney's cold was very bad, he is very weak from pain and coughing so much, he wasn't out doors today, in bed most of the day. Mora went to the mill and got 10# of corn.

Thursday Feb. 19, 1914

A fine day thawed between 12 and two but only out of the wind, a cold raw wind all day. Mora went down with Avis after some buttermilk when they came home from school. Maud went to school too. Sidney did not go to meeting tonight as he was very tired. Susie came over with her baby to get her things and paid $2.00 for same, she staid to dinner said Mosaline was sick and also Chas. Dick. Claud Burt stopped this evening and paid for the boraxine. Gene Porter came down to see what to do to releive the earache, said Agnes had had it nearly all day. Lillian has felt bad all afternoon. Sidney sent a letter to the firm and also sent for some medicine. Roswell worked with them this p.m.

Saturday Feb. 7, 1914

It has rained and snowed both today turning cold toward night. Sidney and Floyd kept at work and finished up their wood job for C. Hoyet in all worked 50 hours. Cut down saved split and piled 20 cord of wood at 80c per cord and got home about 5 PM.

Monday Feb. 2nd, 1914

Snowed a.m. until about eleven o'clock the sun shone until [page ripped] then clouded under the rest of the day, snow'd very little p.m. Mora and Maud went to school. Sidney went to the mill early for corn. Frank Taber came back with him, he is selling ess. and ex. of all kinds. I bought some winter green, it was good alright, then Sidney went up to C. Hoyet's to cut wood, Sidney rec'd a letter from Mr. Higley, I sent one to Mina.

Friday Jan. 30, 1914

I think this has been the most beautiful day we have had so far this winter. Mora and Maude went to school and Mora went down with Avis W. tonight and got some buttermilk. I sent Mora's order again today with Mrs. Clarence Piquet as reference. Memphis went to P.O. three times today. Sidney brought me a letter from Larkin Soap Co. and also one from Beatrice this morning.
[page ripped-unreadable] to Mary today. Sidney and Floyd chopped wood for Cha.'s Hoyet this a.m. up by the depot. Charlie Weatherup's birthday party was a compleate failure with three gallons of ice cream on hand and not a single outsider to help it to spoil, while Orlie Courbat had a great crowd, oh I did not hear whether or not he had any cream to spoil.
