Monday March 15, 1915

Beautiful and bright. We have had 3 white frosts running. Mrs. Dainis came and washed the baby. Maud and Memphis are at school. Grace Courbat came to see the baby.

Friday January 29, 1915

Cold last night and a rough stormy day. Mora and Maud went to school but Maud came home at 10 o'clock with a bad sore throat and cold in her head. I mailed a letter to Adelle and rec'd one from Sidney p.m. Vernice Courbat is quite ill with cold.

Saturday December 19, 1914

Sidney came home a little before noon, brought a grapefruit and a lb. of leaf lard and a lb. beef suet from Syracuse. He went to mill and store and bought wood too. Orla came with it.

Thursday December 10, 1914

Mild day, quite mussy underfoot. Maud and Memphis took their dinner, Mora came home to dinner. Cassie went to P.O. 4 times, got a letter from Sidney and a P.O.Order for $2.00. Mora ordered 1/2 cord wood. Orla Courbat brought it and took 8 shillings instead of 7, as she should have done. Rec'd a card from Adell. Hazel Lynch brought the things I ordered off her, .25c worth.

Monday November 30, 1914

Another lovely day. Sidney went to Chas. Courbat and ordered wood and went away at 8 a.m. Orla came with wood at 3 p.m. Agnes run in and Avis came home with the children I let them go and play a while with her. Cassie went to P.O. Memphis to Gehr's.

Wednesday November 25, 1914

Fair. Mina came at 2 p.m. came in auto. Sidney camt on 7 train p.m. walked in from the Square, got a ride a way's with Orla Courbat.

Saturday November 21, 1914

Sleigh bells are jingling today. Eddie Burt is moving out of Geo. Courbat's house. Maud went to mill twice and Mora went to store and to mill after to help Maud with her feed. Sidney came home on the 7 p.m. as far as the Square. He brought 5# crackers, a large coconut and some buns, and he and Mora went to Lewis's and bought a 15# hog's for 75c. He also bought a nice tablet for the children for school.

Monday October 19, 1914

Sidney went to Brewerton and delivered a scroll, came home on the 2 p.m. train, carried a large box and 3 scrolls home from Courbots as the bus only came as far as that on account of the road building. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school. Clint came down at 11 a.m. mad because Sidney did not help him Sat. and yelled so he could be heard all over the village with Geo. Rudeau by the fence as witness, both drunk.

Saturday June 6, 1914

Fair cool all day. Sidney made a rabbit pen, cut some wood in Mallory's woods that he and Floyd White left last winter. Mora and Maud weeded onions at Weatherups a.m. David paid Mora $2.05 for 20 and 1/2 hours work at 10c per hour, did not pay Maud yet. Mora went to Weatherups tonight got 1 qt. milk. Clarence Porter brought their jackets, they forgot in the lot. Hazel Lynch and Vernice Courbat came with Lottie Baum p.m. to deliver the things I ordered off her, namely box tartan tar soap 10c pkg, darning needles 5c, the n.w.comp. she did not bring, someway omitted in her order. Memphis went to mill got corn, Castella to store for vinegar.

Saturday May 30, 1914

A lovely decoration day, we have all been very busy indeed. Sidney came on the 9 p.m. train but it was about 30 minutes late, rode back from station with Fay Courbat and Eddie Lynch.

Saturday May 23, 1914

Lovely today altho quite a wind p.m. Mora has been to the mill, P.O. and down to Weatherups once, Cassie went to Weatherups with her, Maud has been to Weatherups once and the store twice. Memphis went to the store once, sent a letter to Della a.m. also one to the Mercantile reporting agency co., I cleaned the two front rooms upstairs all but washing the windows also the hall and stairs. Seems more pleasant already. The little rabbits are running all over the yard. Sidney came on the 9 p.m. Geo. Courbat shut down p.m. for the funeral of Mrs Walters who died with pneumonia.

Wednesday April 29, 1914

A rainy day. The children went to school a.m., noon their feet were all wet, did not go back p.m. Mora went to mill and got oats for hens. Sidney is working for Geo. Courbat today. A wild duck on the pond all day following our ducks around, was there until so dark we could not see it. Quite a fog tonight, looks like smoke. Mora caught and dressed 5 Chub and I fryed them for them.

Wednesday April 8, 1914

Rained all night and all day until 2:30, then snowed hard rest of the day, a very bad day. Mora and Maud went to school came home to dinner. Iva Courbat let them take her umbrella they did not get wet, but tonight Mora's feet were damp and Mauds sopping wet and cold. I had her and Mora both soak their feet in hot water after supper. Mora went to P.O. but did not get any mail, she got a quart of milk at Mallory's on her way home. Mrs. Claxton was there. Clarance Porter came down this morning and pounded on the door loud enough to raise the dead. Clint wanted Sidney to work in the mill, he did not get home last night so did not go naturally. The water is as high as at any time this spring it has rained so much. There was 2 wild ducks and 4 monstrous wild geese on the pond for 3 or 4 hours this a.m. Sidney reached home at 8:30 p.m very tired and a little wet, still raining.

Saturday April 4, 1914

Not as cold as yesterday it snowed hard a while a.m. very little p.m. Sidney worked to Mallory's. Maud was taken sick to her stomach, had a headache last night and all day. Mora went up to Morey's twice to get groceries. Sidney went and got a sack of flour before he came home from work . Egg's are now 19c a doz. 16 years since our first baby Menzo Nelson was born. Lottie Baum and Vernice Courbot also Patoria Barn's called this p.m. Lottie was getting up a Larkin soap order. I ordered a box of Naphtha wash com., a box of Tartan Tar soap and a pkg of darning needles off her, in all 30c.

Wednesday March 18, 1914

Warm thawy, snowed hard a.m. not quite so hard p.m. Almost rain, does rain fine like mist tonight. Della and Lenard Shield came a little while a.m., had been to the Pierce dance. Rec'd a card from Mina A. Sidney did not work only a short time on account of the storm his clothes were about wet through. He got Henry Rudeau to draw us a load of wood from C. Corbat. Orlie C. is sick with measles, Iva just came down with measles.

Monday March 9, 1914

Snowed hard all day. Charlie Rudeau plowed out the [page ripped] again today but they filled up again. It cleared up about 8 p.m. The moon shines, it is truely a beautiful night, everything white with snow in the moonlight. Mora went to the mill and got some more corn. Vernice gave her a cute little dolls hat. She got two letters for Sidney and some catalogues for me. Sidney is quite a lot better but had a headache this a.m. My head has ached all day tho not so bad as yesterday, it is enough to wear us all out. Mrs. Kiltz and daughter moved into Mrs. Dainis's front rooms this p.m. all her furniture was completely cover with snow.

Tuesday Feb. 24, 1914

John phoned up to Guy to come and tell us Sidney was to work. A cold day 40 below zero at George Courbat's office at a.m. Sidney went up to the P.O. p.m and John Gehr wanted him to go to the bee and work for him. Charles Hoyet had a bee to draw his wood as his slieghs burned when Emery Pierce set his barn of fire early last fall. All his farm tools and five cows burned. Geo. Courbat's team went and Chars. Courbat's, Clint Mallory's and Ernie Leonards besides about eight men loading wood only took about 2 hours to load and draw out 20 cord of wood. Mora and Maud went to school this p.m, they were very cold when they came home. After supper Mora went to the P.O. to mail Sidney's letter to Mr. Green and get a qt. of vinegar, they are all out so she could not get it.

Tuesday Feb. 17, 1914

The air was so full of frost that it looked like fog nearly all the forenoon, with fine snow all p.m. Quite a kern day. Sidney and Floyd cut wood today, did not make much headway as they are both getting over the grip. Sidney went to John Vinney's shop to file their saw. Mora and Maud went to school took Mrs. Clarence Piquet's licorice and Cap told her to stop on her way home to get the 15c for she also took a pkg. of boraxine to Annie Courbat 10c and a box of tooth picks 5c, she did not have the right change so she stoped there also and Annie gave her the money too. When she come from school, I sent a letter to Mina.

Friday Jan. 30, 1914

I think this has been the most beautiful day we have had so far this winter. Mora and Maude went to school and Mora went down with Avis W. tonight and got some buttermilk. I sent Mora's order again today with Mrs. Clarence Piquet as reference. Memphis went to P.O. three times today. Sidney brought me a letter from Larkin Soap Co. and also one from Beatrice this morning.
[page ripped-unreadable] to Mary today. Sidney and Floyd chopped wood for Cha.'s Hoyet this a.m. up by the depot. Charlie Weatherup's birthday party was a compleate failure with three gallons of ice cream on hand and not a single outsider to help it to spoil, while Orlie Courbat had a great crowd, oh I did not hear whether or not he had any cream to spoil.

Thursday Jan. 29, 1914

Another thawy day, not much snow left, looks very much like spring. Sidney and Mr. Maruury finished cutting Aunt Kate's wood about 11a.m. cut 12. cord for her at 70ct per cord. Sidney and Floyd finished up there, and piled the rest of the wood making 14 cord cut for Clint at 70ct per cord. Mora and Maud started for school this morning and when by Geo. Courbats the bell rang and they came back home so as not to be late at shool. went p.m. early. I finished ironing this morning, baked bread and worked like sixty all day cannot see as I have done much either. sent a card to Mina this morning hope to her from this one.
