Wednesday August 16th 1916

 Very warm. I picked a pail of huckleberries, caned 2 cans. Sidney got 5 qts of long johns. Maud and Memphis took them to Bisbo's, the Russel girls went with them. Mora and Cassie went as far as Russels to meet them. Mrs Russel said Grace Gearsbeck died last night of *infantile paralysis and was buried this morning. Also, Welcome and baby were very ill.

Friday August 11, 1916

 Cool, rainy p.m. I sent an order to Sears Roebuck. Sidney went over on Joe Muckey's and picked 8 qts. of blackberries. Got 8 cents a qt. Mable came at 11 a.m. Bell and Sarah Allen, also Cassie Russel and the girls, called during the shower p.m. 

Wednesday July 5th 1916

Fair, cool. Peter Dupra came for James' clothes a.m. Sidney and Cassy picked berries a.m. at Bisbo's. Maud and Memphis all day, caught another rabbit. Mora picked berries for Casey, came back and picked 4 qrts at Bisbo's pm. 

Tuesday July 4th 1916

 Sidney, Maud and Memphis picked berries for Bisbo. Cassy sent for Mora, so she came home, got her shoes and went over and picked, came home at night with the rest of them. Sidney caught 3 little rabbits in the berry field, brought 1 home. Rained hard at night. Mr. and Mrs. Sypher called eve. 

Friday June 30th 1916

 I got up 5:45, drew off milk, fed pig calves and chickens before the rest were up except Pa. Picked berries, all of us got 2 crates and Cassy and I picked 20 qts over to bring home. James came and brought us home. Marian and Myrtle came, Susie traded a goose and a guinea hen for 2 hens. She gave me some butter an a pail of milk to bring home. When we got to Bisbo's our girls rode home having just finished, they got tickets cashed, Sidney, Maude and Memphis went home with James.

Sunday May 14th 1916

Fair. Mora came home at 10 a.m. Blanch gave her a pair of rompers for Paul, that her little Rose had outgrown. Sidney, Maud, Memphis and Cassy went to church a.m. Sidney, Maud, and Mora have gone this evening. Mr. Webb came p.m. to see Sidney about draging.

Sunday April 16, 1916

Beautiful warm day. Sidney, Mora, Maud, Memphis and Castella went to Sunday school and preaching a.m. Sidney, Mora and Maud went in Eve., had cowslips salad.

Monday March 27, 1916

Warm. Sidney went over to Claud's but he had to get his own wood cut so Sidney came back home and got up some wood. Sidney did not feel well. Cassy sick, vomited.

Friday October 29, 1915

Quite cloudy, sprinkled some. Bell came and got our cart. Also Cassie went to Homer Bryant's with her to meet Davy. Children went to school. I received a card from Sidney. Mailed at Syracuse.

Friday October 15, 1915

Cloudy a.m., bright p.m. Children went to school. Mora came home at eleven a.m. to get a picture of the teacher's she forgot this morning, and eat dinner at home. Rec'd a letter form Sidney, he sent a new nipple for Paul also. Paul has another tooth coming through. I pulled an awful looking tooth for Cassie, had a root nearly 1/4 inch and decayed clear to the end.

Thursday October 14, 1915

Showery warm day. Children went to school. Did not get wet however. Went and back between showers. Cassie went down to Homer Bryant's and got me some vinegar. Pretty weak to use for anything. Rained nearly all night.

Thursday October 7, 1915

Cloudy and windy. Memphis is 9 years old. All 3 at school. Cassie went down to corner but did not get any mail. She went down to Kent's again to get a can of milk for baby. She got two pencils and helped Bell bring up her groceries in our baby cab. Sold 1/2 doz. eggs for .30c/doz. Mora came home tonight as Claud expects to be at home nights the remainder of the week. Paul has one tooth just coming through, left under front.

Monday October 4, 1915

A very nice day, breezy and sunshine's beautiful. Cassie went with the three girls when they went to school. *{Unable to read} to see if there was any mail from Sidney. Mr. Ferguson *{unable to read} her there wasn't any mail, but when he got here he had a letter for Sidney but none from him. Mora went on acrost to stay with Lettie. A dog came here and got into the rabbit yard. I got up quick, raised my bedroom window and yelled at it and it got out and ran away.

Saturday September 25, 1915

A very nice day. Mr. House came early for Sidney to help him cut corn. Came again to have Lillian come up to his house, as Hazel wanted to give her some little dresses. She gave her four, a little pair drawers and gave a little coat to Cassie. Mora came home just before dark, brought some bean vines and all butter beans.

Thursday September 23, 1915

Maud stayed with Lettie last night, came home this morning to get her shoes. Lettie put up a good dinner for her. Memphis went to school with Maud. Mora did not go. Had nosebleed several times today. Maud went over to Lettie's tonight. Paul feels bad tonight. Sidney dug potatoes. I helped him pick up and so did Cassie. She went down to Kent's and got a can of milk off Davy. Took 1 doz. eggs, he paid .26c/doz. A. Russel brought a pail of milk and asked Sidney to milk his cow while he is gone.

Friday September 17, 1915

Hot until 3 p.m., turned suddenly cold. Acts like a hard frost was next to come. Children went to school. Memphis, Cassie and Lillian went to Curtis's party. had a lovely time. Maud went to take a card to him and Hazel gave her also some candy, ice cream and cake. Mr. House gave me about 2 bu. corn for the stalks he got here. Alfred Russel brought over a few summer squashes. Fay Sypher borrowed a hammer and a hoe, they are moving now.

Thursday September 16, 1915

Terrible, hot sweltering. Many thunder showers. Lightening, about all night. I had 2 cans of string beans work and I made mustard pickles of them. Gave Bell a cupful for her dinner, also baked a cup of those big beans for her. Gave her a little pumpkin pie. Borrowed a cup of sugar off her and she brought us a nice mess of sweet corn for our supper. Cassie went down to the corner with the girls when they went to school, and got a bottle of *paregoric. Sidney sent from Fulton by mail. I stitched Mamie's dress and made Mora two little tea aprons, p.m.

Wednesday September 15, 1915

Awfully warm again. A series of thunder showers from 4 p.m. on in the night. Memphis got a ride with H. Munger and his children. Mora stopped to get a pumpkin. Maud waited for her and both came near getting wet. Stopped to House's until it stopped a bit. Bell brought over two little pails for dinner. Mamie sent a little dress for me to stitch, gave me a little sour milk and a little sweet too. Let her have a small loaf of bread. I did the rest of washing this p.m. Got off of Mr. Wilson, 1 graham, 1 salt, 1 soap, 1/4 mustard and 2 red cross for .40c. Sold 1 doz. 8 eggs for .24c/doz. Sent letter to Sidney in Lysander. Hazel sent an invitation for Memphis, Cassie and Lillian to attend a birthday party for Curtis Friday.

Thursday September 9, 1915

Very close and warm. 1:30 p.m. a hard thunder shower, worst this season. Rain pour'd. some hail. Stopped raining before the children came home. Mora did not come tonight. Cassie went down and met Mrs. Moon at the corner and got a letter from Sidney. Bell came and got the cab to draw her flour up in, also 2 eggs to make out even doz. She brought them back, also a little pail of milk this p.m.

Saturday August 14, 1915

Lovely, not too hot today. Sidney cut brush. Cassie carried his dinner to him. Mora picked about 4 qts. berries, gave House half of them. Got a nice lot of mushrooms. We had more sweet corn. Sent Bell some, she brought over a pail of milk tonight. I salted about 4 qts. string beans. Baby girl at Claud Bryants.
