Saturday September 16th 1916

 Cold. Sidney worked for H. Russel, cut corn at Elmer Cotett's. Elmer gave him a mess of sweet corn. I have packed nearly all the dishes. Emily House called this eve. 

Sunday August 20th 1916

 Very warm. No meetings now on account of that disease scare. Harry House called at noon.

Friday April 21, 1916

Cool, cloudy most of day, very high wind tonight. Mora and Maud went to Little France early a.m., got 1/2 # flour and .10c cookies. Got Russel's wagon. Mora went to school at 11 a.m., rode with Arthur Getman in auto. Maud was all in so stayed home. Memphis and Cassy went in morning. Mrs. Emily House called this eve. to see Sidney about digging a ditch for her.

Friday April 14, 1916

Rainy. Harry House called to ask Sidney to help him, p.m., but it rained so hard he did not go. Alf. Russel came and moved his furniture in the rain. Ducks did not come up tonight. Sidney and I looked for them but did not find them. Snowed some.

Monday April 3, 1916

Froze quite thick ice last night. Everything white with frost this morning. Lovely all day. Mrs. Russel and her two grandchildren came a.m., she borrowed some soda. Sidney finished turning the orchard, it looks fine. Harry House brought the shoe strings Sidney forgot and left on counter at Beasonson's on Saturday. Mora went to Bell's, carried a bottle of oil to Maud Cronan, also went down to Nell Fisher's and got some wrappers Nell gave her to cut over for the little ones. Maud stepped on a nail, pierced her big toe quite bad.

Tuesday March 21, 1916

Thawing. Sidney and Claud commenced to cut wood for E. Potter. Mora went to school. A rag man came. I sold him a bag of rags but could not make change so he said he would leave the money at Fred House's. 14cents. Sidney got 9# flour off Maud Potter also a pail of milk. He let Claud have some milk and Lettie filled his dinner pail with hulled corn Maud went to see Bell. Commenced to wean baby Paul, he is very very good.

Wednesday November 3, 1915

Cold, a little rain. Hail and round snow, first snow this fall. Mora came home eat breakfast. She and Maud and Memphis went to school. The Russel girls stopped and went with them. Bell came an hour a.m. Mr. House said he whole republican ticket was elected here but town went wet. Rev. Sypher and Fay dug some of their {unable to read, ripped} acrost the road.

Tuesday November 2, 1915

Cold raw wind. Rained and hailed about 4 p.m. Mora came over acrost with Lettie, she went {unable to read, ripped}. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school together. Russel came just dark, wanted one of the girls to help Mamie while he went and see about a house to {unable to read, ripped}. So Mora went. Maud and Memphis went with {unable to read, ripped}, came back with the lantern. I got off of Mr. Wilson, 5# graham, 1 red cross and 1 soap. Sold him eleven eggs at .38c/doz. Sidney started at 9 a.m. to go and vote and go on towards Fulton intending to get as far as Loren woods tonight. Volney Russel's barn burned last night, all his farming tools, horse, cow, hogs and hens, also burned with it. Mr. House came in and talked himself out as usual.

Monday November 1, 1915

Beautiful day. Sidney cut us a nice lot of wood, and this eve. went over with Mora to Bryant's and then E.B. Potter's. Got 4 small pumpkins also went to Cary's and got onions. Bell came p.m. and this eve came and brought the Post Standard so we could read Billy Sunday's services. Sarah came with her but did not come in. Mr. House visited with Sidney p.m. Saw fire eve. A baby boy at Charles Beasonson's.

Thursday October 28, 1915

Beautiful day, white frost last night. Ice in tub. Thunder and lightening'd all eve. I got 10# graham, 1 red cross, and 1 lenox soap off Mr. Wilson. Sold him 11 eggs at .38c/doz. I let Bell have 4 eggs. Children went to school. Brought their dinner pails full of sweet apple's from Cronins. Harry put putty on two lights of window.

Wednesday October 27, 1915

Cloudy most of today. Sidney went at about 9 a.m. Children went to school. Russel girls stopped. Bell came, has a very bad cold. I sent by Mr. and Mrs. House for a gal. oil and 1 red cross to Little France. p.m.

Monday October 25, 1915

A beautiful white frost this morning. Harry House came in here while watching cows this morning. Sidney went up to Dutch Hill a.m. and took a scroll to Brocket's. Cut wood p.m. Children went to school.

Sunday October 24, 1915

Pleasant day. We have been married 20 years. Sidney, Mora and Maud went to S.S., no preaching. Mr. House came in a while this morning. Sidney went to Joe Harrington's p.m. for Red Cross. Cows here eve., Mr. House put them up.

Saturday October 23, 1915

Cold raw wind. I got up a 1 o'clock and drove Charles Runga's cattle out of our garden and they came right back and I drove them out again at 2. Mr. House put them in Fisher's lot and this morning they jumped over the fence and came back in our garden at noon again. {Unable to read, ripped} them as far as Johnson's, they have eaten {unable to read, ripped} cabbage, and some turnips too. Mora and Maud went over to Lettie's and also to Elmer Cottett's a.m. Blanche gave them each a pumpkin. Mr. House gave Lillian a *toque that was Hazel's. Bell came a.m. a little while. Sidney got home at 9 p.m. having walked from Brewerton. He brought some groceries from Claud Davy's.

Wednesday October 20, 1915

Cloudy a.m., nice p.m. Sidney started for Cicero. Children went to school, got a ride with Mrs. House from Fisher's to the school house. Mamie Russel came a little while p.m. Mr. House said it was {unable to read, ripped}. Cows in our garden.

Monday October 18, 1915

Fair a.m., rainy p.m. Sidney cut us some wood and F. House drew a load over, it is green and hard to burn. Children went to school. Sidney sent by Mr. House for .25c worth of bolted meal. Arthur Getman came with the mail.

Tuesday October 12, 1915

Another nice day. Columbus Day, no school. Sidney finished digging the lower piece of potatoes. Just about got back the seed. He brought up a couple small pumpkins. Cut some wood p.m. Mora came home early. Harry House shot 2 squirrels and gave to Sidney. I cooked them with pork. Sidney wrote a budget of news. I have a hard cold in head and throat.

Saturday October 9, 1915

*Rainy. Mora went up as far as Brocket's on {unable to read} hill. Getting up her soap order. Came home at 5 p.m. came home drenched. She brought a pumpkin from E.B. Po{unable to read} Mr. House called p.m. gave the children some apples. Sidney came home at 8:30, pretty wet. Charles Beasonson  had him take an umbrella. He brought a pkg. of banner {unable to read} graham and sugar.

Wednesday September 29, 1915

Another frost, awfully cold morning but a fair day. A big hawk came through the window this morning at 6:30, breaking a big pane. Not a piece left in that side of the sash. Frightened us all about to death. I got hold of it but it was too quick and got away going back through the hole it made. Mrs. House and Harry and Curtis came over this eve. and nailed some shingles in until they could get a light of glass. Bell came nearly dark and brought a little milk. We got a can of milk and 10# graham off of Mr. Wilson. Sold 2 doz. eggs at .28c/doz. Memphis went to school only p.m. Rec'd a card from Mr. Higley, wrote him a letter, could not send it.

Monday September 27, 1915

Cold altho the sun shone p.m. A. Russel came back home a.m. Sidney cut corn a.m. for Mr. House and p.m. he and Mr. House drew us a load of wood. Sidney cut enough to last the week out. Went over with Maud to Lettie's eve. Bell came eve. Ferguson brought graham flour but no nipple. Sidney rec'd card form Mr. Higley.
