Friday March 26, 1915

Snowed quite hard, a very cold northwest wind. Mrs. Geo. Rudeau buried at Little France. *Henry came to attend funeral, sheriff was with him. Mora and Maud went to school.



*Editor's note- Henry Rudeau was in jail since Oct. 1914 for not paying $400 alimony to his wife Florence, per the Oswego Daily Times.

Tuesday March 23, 1915

Lovely again today. Mrs. Geo. Rudeau passed away at 11:30 a.m Mrs. Dainis called awhile p.m. Mora and Maud went to school.

Wednesday March 17, 1915

Very nice bright day. Mrs. Dainis came and dressed the baby in the morning and p.m she came and brought 5 beets, two nice turnips, 2 eggs, a bar of soap and a pkg. of matches. Sidney drew a load of wood with Weatherups horse a.m. and went to Square and got some groceries p.m. and went to prayer meeting in the eve. at Weatherups. Mitchel called a little while. R. Tate came and Sidney talked with hm a while out doors and he then went back. Maud and Memphis went to school. Mrs. Geo. Rudeau had a *shock at 9 p.m. yesterday. I rec'd a card from Mrs. Wynes.

Monday November 2, 1914

Drizzling rain nearly all day. Children at school. Dr. Veeder vaccinated Memphis a.m. Sidney dug potatoes for Henry Rudeau a.m.

Sunday October 25, 1914

Sidney and the four girls went to church. Showery today. H. Rudeau called.

Monday October 19, 1914

Sidney went to Brewerton and delivered a scroll, came home on the 2 p.m. train, carried a large box and 3 scrolls home from Courbots as the bus only came as far as that on account of the road building. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school. Clint came down at 11 a.m. mad because Sidney did not help him Sat. and yelled so he could be heard all over the village with Geo. Rudeau by the fence as witness, both drunk.

Tuesday June 2, 1914

A real nice day, Sidney went to the station to take the first train north. Maud, Memphis and Castella have all been over town also Maud went to Weatherups for milk. Henry Rudeau plowed and draged our garden today. John Fidler called to see Sidney this evening. I told him he would no be home until late so he said he would see him tomorrow.

Tuesday May 19, 1914

Warm today. Sidney started toward Pulaski this morning 7:30. Mora went to Weatherups also Cassie. Avis gave her or them a very pretty tiger kitten and for fear of it being lonesome, Maud and Memphis went and she gave them another tiger and white. Melvin wanted them to take all they had so Mr. Weatherup would not kill them. I have kept our hens shut up to keep them from going on Henry Rudeaus oats which he drilled in yesterday, did not finish until so dark we could hardly see him. Rolled them today. I caught two very nice bullheads by the bridge this eve, put the little rabbits in the pen today, seem to enjoy it.

Monday May 11, 1914

Nice but quite cool and cloudy p.m. Sidney started out about 7 a.m. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school p.m., a.m. Mora did not go, went to the mill for corn, went down to Weatherups tonight with Avis and got some buttermilk. Got a telegram p.m. from Syracuse that Mary* is dead, got a letter also (that she was dieing) with a special delivery stamp. Nellie came and brought it down. Guy came twice to tell me about the message so I could write to Sidney, sent a letter to him on the 2 p.m. Mr. Henderson came a few minutes before six this evening, Henry gave Cassie more potatoes.


*Note- I believe Mary might be Sidney's older half sister Mary Welsh. I have not been able to confirm this yet.

Saturday May 9, 1914

Nice all day. Rec'd a letter from Larkin Soap Co, Henry gave Mora and Cassie a big pail of potatoes he plowed up. We had a nice mess of bullheads for dinner. Harry Vinney's wife is very ill, not expected to live. Sidney came on the nine o'clock train tonight, said he did not get the pkg. we mailed to him.

Friday May 8, 1914

Pleasant all day. Mora went to Weatherups, Avis told her the minister and his family were going to moved on the Moon place. Rec'd a card from Sidney, mailed at Lacona. Floyd Lynch came to see our little rabbits early this morning, he had two little white rabbits in his pockets, said he got them off C. Burt. Gene Porter came to see them also, Agnes came and stayed until 11:30. Henry Rudeau has kept Cassie busy getting potatoes he plowed up, they are much nicer than if kept in a cellar. Caught some more little fish this evening

Friday May 1, 1914

Pleasant all day, white frost last night. Sidney worked to Rudeaus again today. Got a cord of wood off Henry. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school. Mora mailed a letter for me to Adell this morning, p.m. went home with Avis W. got a pail of buttermilk, heard Charlie Marshal was dead.

Thursday April 30, 1914

Rain a.m, p.m. fair. Sidney went up to Rudeau's and got the rest of his potatoes, cut us some wood, built a pen for the rabbits and got a mess of cowslips for supper. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school. A cold north west wind all day.

Tuesday April 28, 1914

A nice warm day, sprinkled just night, quite cloudy. Sidney worked to Rudeau's, bought 1 bu. potatoes $1.00 bu. off Henry. Mora, Maud and Memphis went to school, Maud and Memphis went to Weatherup's and got some buttermilk. Mora stopped in to Boots. Mora and I caught quite a lot of fish by the bridge, nearly dark.

Monday April 27, 1914

Cloudy this morning Sidney is helping Henry Rudeau. Mora and Maud in school, Memphis has gone to the store, Cassie is out doors, the first in about 2 weeks. Agnes Porter came down to play with Memphis and Cassie, Sidney got a letter form the firm, he ate dinner and supper with Henry Rudeau. Our greens were just fine only a little too short.

Tuesday April 21, 1914

Mist early, clearing about 9 a.m. then nice rest of the day. Sidney went away about 7 a.m. toward Palermo. Maud went to store and bought a lb. of soda before breakfast. Mora and Maud went to school. Memphis and Cassie are both red with the measles but neither of them are sick. Lillian is quite a lot better tonight. Henry Rudeau called to see Sidney this noon wanted him to help him saw wood. Mr. Henderson came a little while p.m. Avis Weatherup came at 5:45 to get her dress pattern she had a very pretty cat carrying with her.

Monday April 13, 1914

A cold north wind, pond frozen over ice about an inch thick. I washed and the cloths froze before I could get them pinned on the line. Sidney worked for Mallory's,  rec'd a letter from Lillian Smith, that Memphis dropped Saturday a.m., Henry Rudeau found it and took it back to P.O. so Nellie told Sidney when she gave it to him.

Tuesday April 7, 1914

Pleasant until 5:30 p.m. commenced to sprinkle at 6, rain hard looks like an all night affair. Mora and Maud went to school came home to dinner. Memphis wanted to go but her eyes looked bad and ached. Decided to keep her home it may be pink eye. Mora went to the P.O. after coming home from school and got cabbages for 5c and said they only had 5 more left as she wanted to go and get the rest. Lewis told her she could have them for 2c each . I let her go and she bought all for 9c, cute little very hard heads about a lb. each, however they are cabbage and that is all there is to it. Cassie went up to Gehr's and got a pkg. of Snowboy when the children went back to school, when she came home she was hold of Mrs. Rudeau's hand.

Wednesday March 18, 1914

Warm thawy, snowed hard a.m. not quite so hard p.m. Almost rain, does rain fine like mist tonight. Della and Lenard Shield came a little while a.m., had been to the Pierce dance. Rec'd a card from Mina A. Sidney did not work only a short time on account of the storm his clothes were about wet through. He got Henry Rudeau to draw us a load of wood from C. Corbat. Orlie C. is sick with measles, Iva just came down with measles.

Monday March 9, 1914

Snowed hard all day. Charlie Rudeau plowed out the [page ripped] again today but they filled up again. It cleared up about 8 p.m. The moon shines, it is truely a beautiful night, everything white with snow in the moonlight. Mora went to the mill and got some more corn. Vernice gave her a cute little dolls hat. She got two letters for Sidney and some catalogues for me. Sidney is quite a lot better but had a headache this a.m. My head has ached all day tho not so bad as yesterday, it is enough to wear us all out. Mrs. Kiltz and daughter moved into Mrs. Dainis's front rooms this p.m. all her furniture was completely cover with snow.
