Sunday October 8th 1916

 Warm, bright and beautiful. Mora and Samantha came at 11 a.m. Vera got Mora some clothes she had outgrown. 4 went to play with Samantha p.m. Sidney got $2.70 worth of groceries off Florence a.m. Sidney went to attend holiness meeting with eve. 

Saturday October 7th 1916

 Fair. Memphis is 10 years old. Sidney went to Fulton a.m., got home at 3 p.m. Got a letter from Aunt Adaline, 1 from Mina, and card from Philys R. and several other letters. Maud went with Vera and been to Florence's twice. Loren Wood came hunting, told me we could have some cabbage. Memphis went over and got 4 heads. Cassy and Lillian with her. Mora gone to spend the night with Vera. 

Thursday September 14th 1916

 Very close, muggy day. Rain hard at night. Sidney and Mora husked corn. Other girls picked off beans. Martin bought his cow tonight, looks like a good one. Mr. Wilson came, I got graham, oats and sugar.

Wednesday September 13th 1916

 Fair, cool. Sidney went to Hastings, got home at 8 p.m. Mora and the woman here went to Elmer Cotett's to look at a cow they think to buy p.m. I rec'd a card from Daisy.

Sunday September 10th 1916

 Fair, rather an uneventful day. Man Phillys gave Mora and Lillian a box of candy. Called a while in the evening. 

Saturday September 2nd 1916

 Cool. we have been busy straightening up and cleaning. Mr. Sypher called at 11:30 a.m. Eva sent a dress and jacket by him to Mora. Bell and the 2 miss Allen's called also, eve. Sidney got home at 11 p.m. Walked and carried scroll and groceries from Hastings, came on car. 

Wednesday August 23rd 1916

 Thunder shower in the ight, lousy and some rain today, cooler. Sidney went to West Monroe a.m. and p.m. went over to Cary's and got a few duchess apples. Mora and I picked a few berries, rec'd a letter from Mina.

Tuesday August 22nd 1916

 Awfully hot sultry day. I picked 2 qts of huckleberries p.m. Mora picked some a.m. and also some barberries. I made a pie of them, it was fine. Sidney picked berries on Muckie's, took another can of Fred's over, got some duchess apples off him. I made 2 pies of them, mailed a letter to Aunt Adaline. 

Thursday, August 17th 1916

 Warm. Sidney and Mora went up on the Fidler place and got about 5qts of lovely berries. Sidney went p.m. got 2 qts more. I went on this lot, got 2 qts, not at all nice. too dryed up. Let Mr. Wilson have 6 qts. I also picked 3 qts of huckleberries.

Wednesday August 16th 1916

 Very warm. I picked a pail of huckleberries, caned 2 cans. Sidney got 5 qts of long johns. Maud and Memphis took them to Bisbo's, the Russel girls went with them. Mora and Cassie went as far as Russels to meet them. Mrs Russel said Grace Gearsbeck died last night of *infantile paralysis and was buried this morning. Also, Welcome and baby were very ill.

Tuesday August 15th 1916

 Fair. I picked a syrup pail full of huckleberries. Sidney picked a few berries too, and also Mora a few. 

Sunday August 13th 1916

 Cloudy a.m. and rainy early p.m., fair moon is beautiful tonight. Sidney, Mora, Maud and Mable have gone to meeting this evening. Rev. Conklyn will preach, got home at 10 p.m. Went to bed and before we were asleep at 11, James drove in.

Saturday, August 12th 1916

 Looks lousy and sprinkled some. Sidney picked 3 qts of blackberries for a shortcake and huckleberries for pies. Children picked a few. Mora and Maud rode with the Cotett girl, went to Little France. Got 10# sugar, a pkg of oats, 1# soda and lamp chimney. Sidney went to  Gayville to quarterly meeting this ee, got home at 11 p.m.

Thursday August 10th 1916

 Cool. Sidney and I picked berries p.m. Mora picked some a.m. Gave .8 cents for black berries. I got flour, soap, baking powder and yeast off Wilson. Bell took 3 more loads, all moved but 3 have got away from her.

Wednesday August 9th 1916

 Nice and cool. Sidney fixed fence a.m., went to W. Monre p.m. Mora and I picked about 4qts of huckleberries p.m. Bell took 2 more loads of goods a.m. Making 5 loads so far.

Sunday August 6th 1916

Hot and awfully dusty. Auto's make an awful fog.  Sidney, Mora and Maud went to S.S. Sidney was so hoarse, he could not preach but he has gone to Gayville this evening, got along alright. Got .70 cents collection.

Saturday August 5th 1916

 Cloudy most of the day, but hot. Children and I pulled weeds. Mora and I hoed it is very hard work. Mora picked over 1 qt of huckleberries after 6 tonight. Memphis also picked about 1 pint. Mostly long johns. Bell stopped out in front and talked with the children awhile. Sidney came at about 10 p.m., stayed with Mary Allen last night.

Wednesday August 2nd 1916

Cool a.m., hot p.m Mora and I hoed beans and sweet corn p.m. Picked huckleberries for 2 qt cans.

Tuesday August 1st 1916

 Cold this morning, changed at 3 a.m. Sidney started for the station about 9 a.m. going to Fulton. Mora and I hoed sweet corn. Children pulled weeds. Mrs. Russel and girls called eve.

Thursday July 27th 1916

Warm, burning dry, everything curled up. Sidney killed more potatoes. Mora and I went berrying p.m. Got only enough for 1 qrt can and small glass of jam. I got flour and soap off Mr. Wilson. Sugar and lard off Davy.
