Monday September 18th 1916

 Rainy night last night. Clearing in morning. Fred came at 1 p.m. after dinner, loaded up and started for Volney at 6 p.m. Sidney, Maud and Memphis went with him. Cold Night. Bell and Mrs. Russel came p.m. Cassy sick. 

Sunday September 3rd 1916

 Beautiful all day. Charles and Daisy Green and 3 children, Fred and Hannah Bartlet and Guy came all 10 a.m in auto. Went at 3 p.m. Took Sidney to Gayville to get some flour and sugar. Mr. Roguiski came and with his phonograph. Had nice time.

Tuesday August 22nd 1916

 Awfully hot sultry day. I picked 2 qts of huckleberries p.m. Mora picked some a.m. and also some barberries. I made a pie of them, it was fine. Sidney picked berries on Muckie's, took another can of Fred's over, got some duchess apples off him. I made 2 pies of them, mailed a letter to Aunt Adaline. 

Friday August 18th 1916

 Hot. Rec'd a card from Mina. Sidney went to Little France, rode with Edd Cotett at 6:30 a.m. got flour and sugar flour, $2.00 a sack. Went over on Joe Muckey's at 10 a.m., took 2 cans of huckleberries to Fred. He got home early with his pail nearly full. Will Peck's girl sick with infantile paralysis. 

Monday August 14th 1916

 Fair. James and Mable started away at 8 a.m. Sidney picked 11 qts of berries on Muckeys, brought over 5 qt cans to fill with huckleberries for Fred Cary.

Tuesday June 20th 1916

Cold. Sidney hoed corn, but it is very wet. We had a strawberry pie. Sidney went over to Fred Cary's, eat supper with him. Gave him *pieplant for 1 qrt and 1 pint can. Patsy went away.

Saturday May 27th 1916

Rained some a.m.  Sidney worked at Kent's, went to Fred Hess's p.m., got some potatoes and planted them, about 1/2 bu.  Maud carried Mora's things over to Elmer's for her a.m.

Tuesday March 21, 1916

Thawing. Sidney and Claud commenced to cut wood for E. Potter. Mora went to school. A rag man came. I sold him a bag of rags but could not make change so he said he would leave the money at Fred House's. 14cents. Sidney got 9# flour off Maud Potter also a pail of milk. He let Claud have some milk and Lettie filled his dinner pail with hulled corn Maud went to see Bell. Commenced to wean baby Paul, he is very very good.

Monday September 20, 1915

Cool. Sidney wasn't quite as hoarse this morning, but is just as bad at night. He went to Little France a.m., got some groceries. Cut brush a little, p.m. Mrs. Emily House and Fred House came at noon. Ross Bisbo called in evening. Mora went to Bryant's 6 p.m. She went to Mrs. Johnson's, got me 4 peppers a.m. Maud and Memphis went to school came home to dinner. A man came here and eat breakfast, said he was from Utica. Going near Adams to go to work.

Friday September 10, 1915

A nice breeze but the sun is very warm. Maud and Memphis went to school, so did Mora but she did not come home tonight. She rides as far as McClymonds with the teacher. Children said lightening struck Fred Hess's house and barn, and Jim Potters barn and tore his new part off and blinded a horse. Tomatoes just commenced to turn. Lots of awfully big green worms. I have to look them over every day.  I am very tired tonight. Sidney came on the 7 p.m, walked home from Hastings. Got 1/2 flour, 5# grain, 4# rice, 1# lard, 1 can milk, 1/2 # coffee at Beasonson's. Besides a lot of packages, he brought from Syracuse, he did remarkable well this week.

Tuesday July 20, 1915

Fair cool breeze. Sidney finished greening potatoes a.m., called at Siegels and went by way of Fred Cary's to Gayville and got some groceries. Bell brought a pail of buttermilk. Baby is much better, but Mora feels bad. We had some new potatoes and string beans for supper.

Sunday July 18, 1915

Fair. Sidney, Mora and Maud attended S.S and services. Mr. Carey came here for dinner went home 5 p.m. Frank also called a little while on his motorcycle. Sidney went over to Fred's eve., got 1/2 bu. potatoes and he gave him some nice lettuce. I broke off the leaves and set roots out for seed. Memphis got some sour milk off Bell. Baby feels bad.

Thursday June 10, 1915

Fair, rather cold wind. Chilly evening. Mora is much better, getting along fine. Sidney carried two bags potatoes home from Fred Cary's a.m. Went to Bisbo's p.m. brought home a few garden strawberries. the children got a few wild ones and we had a shortcake for supper. It was nice too.

Friday June 4, 1915

Fair, rather cold wind. Fay Sypher came and borrowed a hammer a.m. Sidney went over to Fred Cary's this morning and Fred gave him a few early rose and a few other early potatoes to plant. Mr. House came over p.m. and cut the grass in our front yard, for his horses. I put short clothes on baby *Paul. a.m. Sidney went to North Constantia eve. Got home 10 p.m.

Wednesday February 3, 1915

Ice storm again last night. Stormy nearly all day. Sun shone. Night not quite so cold. Rec'd letter from Dell. Fred Morey dead after a two weeks illness.

Sunday August 9, 1914

Hot as usual. Sidney went over p.m. and got our hens, one chicken got away from him. Fred Simmons came back with him from Pierces. They picked a qt. blackberries by road side coming back.

Sunday May 3, 1914

Pleasant day. Q.F. Cary called on Sidney a.m. said Fred is out on the farm. Sidney, Mora and Memphis went to S. School, no preaching. We all went up in Mallory's woods, p.m. we dug some mandrake roots. Children picked flowers, we all enjoyed it very much. The first time I have been out of the yard since before Christmas. Memphis went and bought a can of Van Camp milk a.m. Maud got some sugar p.m. Sidney and Mora got a beautiful bird.
