Saturday July 22nd 1916

 Hot. Sidney hilled potatoes. Mora helped him a.m and p.m. She straightened parlor and chamber. Children pulled some weeds. I set cabbage and peppers, sow'd a row of turnips and made a sun bonnet, and dress for Paul. Baked bread and am quite tired tonight. I sent a letter to Aunt Adeline, a card to Adell.

Saturday January 9, 1915

Nice day, not cold. I rec'd a birthday card from Adell. Sidney mailed his report, also 100 names to Rural New York. Will Smith and family sent the evening with us. I made Maud a blue wool dress trimmed with red braid. Sidney got a cord of wood off Claud Dick for .75c delivered.

Thursday December 10, 1914

Mild day, quite mussy underfoot. Maud and Memphis took their dinner, Mora came home to dinner. Cassie went to P.O. 4 times, got a letter from Sidney and a P.O.Order for $2.00. Mora ordered 1/2 cord wood. Orla Courbat brought it and took 8 shillings instead of 7, as she should have done. Rec'd a card from Adell. Hazel Lynch brought the things I ordered off her, .25c worth.

Friday October 23, 1914

Fair. Children at school, Miss Mosier gone home and a Mrs. Van Syckle came to teach, also of Parish. Sidney husk corn, went and husk'd 1 1/2 bu. after supper. Rec'd leter from Adell.

Sunday August 30, 1914

Warm and muggy again this morning. Lewis and Adell started to drive back to Randallsville at 10:30 a.m. they are both looking fine. She brought me a little dress of Ione's for Lillian also a waist that was Mates.

Saturday August 29, 1914

Rained hard all night continuing all day. Adell and Lewis came on the p.m. milk train. James went to meet them and all got soaked about through.

Friday May 29, 1914

Warm all day close and stuffy tonight. Rec'd a letter from Sidney, mailed one to him at Pulaski also rec'd one from Adell, Hamilton. Memphis went to the mill also to store. Cassie went to P.O. twice, Maud went after the milk. Mora helped me and I sewed some, have not felt a bit good today. A dance at Guy Pierces tonight, Lawrence Harrington stopped, wanted to get a rabbit having lost one of his.

Friday May 15, 1914

Fair day, cold wind. Sidney cleaned out the cellar and opened the drain. Children went to school. I rec'd a letter from Adelle, Pa's birthday, 76 years old. This is the end of the term.

Tuesday May 5, 1914

Another thunder shower in the night, I could not sleep. Rain'd all day, hard all p.m. and is still raining tonight. Eve was very glad to see me this morning, I looked in her basket and found nine little bunnies, plump and cute. She is awfully proud of them. Mora caught a very nice sucker by the bridge at eleven o'clock. I dressed it and fryed it for our dinner. Lawrence Harrington was there but did not get a nibble, took Mora's fish off her hook for her. I received a letter from Adell, school meeting tonight.

Friday April 17, 1914

Quite a foggy gray morning, nice bright sunshine toward noon and rest of day, wind drying mud fast. Sidney went away about 7 a.m. Mora went to Weatherup's and got some buttermilk. Mrs. Weatherup gave her some maple sugar to bring home for the other children and herself. She went to P.O. got a letter for Sidney and one for me from Aunt Adaline Raymond, she also sent a tintype of Adell and Watson. Sidney arrived home at 9 p.m. said he ate supper at Diamonds.

Thursday April 16, 1914

Rained hard most of the day, I received a letter from Adell, said she liked her new home and husband too. Sidney had a headache nearly all day.

Saturday March 28, 1914

They shoveled and plowed the roads again today and chopped off the ridge with axes, so the funeral procession could get through, Mr. Rushie's funeral at 1 p.m. at the church. I think he will be buried at Sand Hill, roads were so bad the undertaker could not get through with a hearse so took the remains in a wagon. Rec'd a card from Mina saying Adell was married to L. Mathews.

Friday March 6, 1914

It has snowed quite hard today. I have had a very severe headache. Mora went to Weatherup's p.m. Maud went to the P.O. got some mail for Sidney and a card for me from Adell. Sidney hasen't felt good at all today but is a trifle better tonight. Eugene Porter came in a little while this a.m.
